چکیده

Methods 242 consecutive consenting patients referred for CMR between December 2014 and June 2015 were scanned on a 1.5T Magnetom Avanto (Siemens Healthcare, Erlangen) using a MOLLI (WIP#448, 5:3:3 acquisition scheme, motion correction and automatically generated T1 map). In all cases on the basal short axis slice, a single, slender ROI was placed in the mid wall of the septum with meticulous attention to avoid partial volume of blood/and or scar areas to derive the native T1 in msec. The patients were grouped by ejection fraction: <45%, 45-55% and >55%. 15 healthy volunteers were also used as a control group. Ejection fraction (EF), LV volumes, LV mass and BSA indexed left atrial area (LAAi) were also acquired. Comparison was performed using ANOVA and linear regression with adjustment for demographic variables that were found to vary between groups (age and BSAi LV mass).

State of the Art: Clinical Applications of Cardiac T1 Mapping.

While cardiovascular magnetic resonance (MR) has become the noninvasive tool of choice for the assessment of myocardial viability and for the detection of acute myocardial edema, cardiac T1 mapping is believed to further extend the ability of cardiovascular MR to characterize the myocardium. Fundamentally, cardiovascular MR can improve diagnosis of disease that historically has been challenging...

Diffuse myocardial fibrosis by post-contrast T1-time predicts outcome in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

Background Diffuse myocardial fibrosis plays a key role in disease progression of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF). Recently it was shown that diffuse myocardial fibrosis is strongly related to post-contrast longitudinal relaxation (T1) time by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). The aim of our study was to assess diffuse myocardial fibrosis by CMR T1-mapping in HFPE...

Extracellular Volume Fraction for Characterization of Patients With Heart Failure and Preserved Ejection Fraction.

BACKGROUND Optimal patient characterization in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is essential to tailor successful treatment strategies. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-derived T1 mapping can noninvasively quantify diffuse myocardial fibrosis as extracellular volume fraction (ECV). OBJECTIVES This study aimed to elucidate the diagnostic performance of T1 mapping in HFpEF...

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Assessment in Patients With Sarcoidosis and Preserved Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction.

BACKGROUND Cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) may manifest as arrhythmia or even sudden cardiac death. Because patients with CS often present with nonspecific symptoms, normal electrocardiography, and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction, a reliable diagnostic tool for the work-up of CS is needed. Late gadolinium enhancement-cardiovascular magnetic resonance has proven diagnostic value in CS but ...

Increased myocardial native T1 and extracellular volume in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy

BACKGROUND Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) cardiomyopathy is a progressive disease for which there is no cure. Disease-specific therapies are needed that can be initiated before irreversible myocardial damage ensues. In order to evaluate therapeutic efficacy, surrogate endpoints other than ejection fraction must be found. The hypothesis of this study is that T1 and extracellular volume fracti...
